Kerry's Hipocrisy

John Kerry’s recent calls for George W Bush to call on the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth to stop airing ads attacking Kerry’s allegedly embellished Vietnam War record is one of the greatest acts of blatant hypocrisy in presidential campaign history.

First, Kerry claims that the Swift Boat ads (which make no mention of support for Bush) are violation of campaign laws, because the principal donor from the group happens to also support Bush. Kerry ignores the fact that several “527” organizations, most notably MoveOn.org, ACT, and the Media Fund, all of which accept unlimited, unregulated soft money contributions, from the same donors that support Kerry’s campaign. These organizations also have close ties with Kerry’s campaign; from Fox News: “The Media Fund is run by John Kerry's former campaign manager and the head of ACT, Harold Ickes, spent his week in Boston holed up in the Four Seasons with John Kerry's top money men.” These organizations have not only been highly critical of Bush’s policy, but have made numerous smears campaigns, compared Bush to Hitler, and advocated directly for voting against Bush.

Secondly, Kerry demands that Bush call for an end to all “smear campaigns” and “lies,” while he himself, his campaign, and the Democratic National Committee (not to mention these so-called “unaffiliated” 527 organizations) have claimed Bush was “AWOL” from his National Guard duty, an accusation which has less support that the Swift Boat claims. Has Kerry called for an end to these accusations? Of course not; in fact, in demanding that Bush call for an end to the Swift Boat ads, his campaign manager again mentions that Bush was “AWOL” while Kerry “served admirably”.

Does the Kerry campaign even understand the concept of hipocrisy?
