Was Palin's speech "too mean"?

The latest complaint from the Obama campaign and the mainstream media (if the two can be considered separate entities) was that Palin's speech was too negative. But the Volokh conspirancy counts twice as many negative attacks in Obama’s speech as in Palin's speech.

Likewise, Scott Ott responds to a question posed by CNN about whether Palin's speech was "too mean to reflect a 'Christian attitude'" Ott notes that Jesus went pretty negative in his speech about the pharisees, calling them a "brood of vipers".

When you look at the actual speeches, you have to admit Palin was not as "mean" as the messiah - whether that means Jesus or Obamamessiah.
